Introduction to Sui

Sui Network is a L-1 that is providing faster deployment of smart contract and high transaction speed, pretty much what you would expect from any new chain that is launching now a days, but with L-1 its pretty bullish to see them rise. It uses Delegated Proof of Stake.

Sui is a blockchain built from the ground up with the goal of providing a seamless and user-friendly experience for all its users. One of the main features of the Sui network is its ability to support the creation of rich and dynamic on-chain assets while also offering instant settlement and high throughput. In turn, the Sui network is a highly scalable and secure blockchain platform that makes digital asset ownership and management accessible to everyone.

Sui aims is to make it easy to create and deploy dApps and functions in the Web3 space. The blockchain uses Move, the language derived from Rust; a widely used and accepted programming language for blockchain.

How does this works?

Sui has its own unique way of handling transaction, unlike other chains which uses vertical scaling, Sui uses horizontal scaling; i.e. distributing the load of transactions as well as increasing the number of nodes in the network.

Use Cases

Sui, with its scalability and fast transactions can solve few problems in sectors such as Gaming, DeFi, SoFi and more. For example zkLogin that is making interaction with dApps on Sui easier to sign in using Gmail, Meta, Twitch and other such services are in the pipeline.

What is $SUI

$SUI is the native token for the chain that has many use cases of its own, including transactions fees, staking, governance token and other such utilities as the chain grows in coming months. As more and more dApps are being deployed and grants given out by the Sui Foundation, $SUI as a token will surely rise and cover more ground in terms of utility.

Sui Foundation

The Sui Foundation is an independent organization that is dedicated to the advancement and adoption of the Sui network. The Foundation fulfills its mission by educating, activating, funding, and promoting builders and creators within the Sui ecosystem. Some popular initiatives by the foundation includes covering everything the Sui network does, documenting it and presenting it to the community, handling social media handles like @SuiNetwork and @SuiFoundation on X. Sui is also actively doing activations, providing grants and accepting application for the same. One such thing is Sui Basecamp, where builders, developers, thought-leaders and enterprises come together with the SUI community. The first basecamp will take place in Paris, France on 10–11th April, 2024.

There are a lot of things the Sui Network is doing to expand its userbase and community, one such thing is deploying grants that is further divided into 2 sections, Developer Grants and Academic Research Awards. The grants are available to anyone who are eager to start building on Sui, be it an individual, team, non-profit or companies.

This article was written as a part of ThinkSui’s Content Creators with the aim to educate the community who are outside the SUI ecosystem but are eager to learn and get involve. Next article in this series will cover details about ThinkSui, a protocol to reward Sui community members build by Thrive Coin.

Hope this helps you understand at a surface level about what Sui is and what they are trying to build. If you like this and want to keep on learning about Sui Network and ThinkSui further, consider following me here and on twitter.
